The Shinjuku Incident is the rare flm that breaks from the local genre mold by tackling a controversial topic – the lives of illegal Chinese workers in Japan. Jackie Chan, in a highly anticipated and rare dramatic role, stars as Steelhead, an honest tractor repairman who illegally enters Japan to search for his missing girlfriend. When he arrives, he is plunged into the shady world of crime and poverty, where survival matters above all. But his struggle to retain his decency becomes increasingly complex when he is unwittingly drawn into the realm of the yakuzas.
