For God’s sake! This is fundamentally elementary:

This Opera is about Mimi and Rodolfo!! Not! Mimi and Colline.

How could anyone muck that one up?

Part 2 Technically, this holiest of musical masterpieces is sliced and diced like an unwanted dog: The subtitles are unreadable much of the time, particularly when they are displayed against a tablecloth or SNOW! They are also translated inaccurately: Act III – Rodolfo sings “Mimi e una civetta” Which means: Mimi is a coquette” It’s one of the most poignantly ironic and intentionally untrue lines in the entire work. It is sub-titled in the film as “Mimi can’t help it.” Not even close! And that’s only the first half of Rodolfo’s line. They just left the second half out. Lots of holes like that throught out the work.

What about the bright side? Nicole Cabell!!! What a beauty. She can sing, too. OK! Enough. It was better than nothing. PS: The print was too dark. The orchestras performance was too weak.

Thanks anyway, Mme Netrebko is the top!!! Happy New Year.
